This is a very interesting project, and use of our tracking solution, and certainly not one that immediately came to mind when we were identifying possible customers for our service!

The Namibian Ministry of Agriculture has been running a conservation project for elephants. The aim of this is to minimise human wildlife conflict.

In the past elephants would have done considerable damage to farms and this would have led to farmers treating them as pests and killing them.

With this conservation project the Namibian Ministry of Agriculture is being much more proactive. Using our system the dominant female in the elephant herd is fitted with a tracking unit. All of the other elephants in the herd stay in close proximity to the dominat female.

Then officials are able to set up Geofences around farms using our system.

When the elephant enters a Geofence (signalling that the herd is approaching a farm) the farmer receives a text message. This warns the farmer and allows him to encourage the Elephants to move on, using humane methods, before any damage is done to the farm.

This scheme has proven very successful and similar schemes are now being rolled out in South East Asia.

Did you know that Mobil Information Systems offers the means whereby a 3rd party system or program can gain access to limited information about your fleet location?

To fully understand this service let us explain through a real life example of one of our customers using this service.

Many transporters in Ireland use European transport brokers and agents to organise loads for them. It was one of these agents that recently asked us if we could help them integrate their load management system with our vehicle locations. This agent already had the load details and registration number of the vehicle transporting the load, they needed to know where that vehicle was to determine the progress of the load.

Using our MSTLocate we were able to allow this agent’s system to query the location of a vehicle. In turn MSTLocate returns information to the agents system for them to determine the location of the vehicle and hence the load that they have contracted to the Irish transporter. In this particular example the agent’s IT department had their system talking to MSTLocate within a matter of hours.

Access to this information is only allowed by 3rd parties if you, our customer gives them permission to do so, in which case we MIS issue them with a specific login and password which allows access to only your fleet of vehicles.

This is only one example of how MSTLocate can be used by a 3rd party process that requires live updates.

If you feel that your relationship with your customers can be enhanced by offering this service please give us a call and we will gladly explain this feature and its benefits further to you.

Over the last few months our development team have been working on the iPhone application that will allow our clients to access their vehicle location information on the iPhone.

We are delighted to announce that iMobile is now available for free download from the Apple App Store.

Now you can view your fleet details and locations on maps on the high quality iPhone screen.
If you need any help downloading and in-stalling iMobile for your iPhone then please get in touch and we can help you.

And remember if you don?t have an iPhone at the mo-ment you can still use JMobile which works with most other common mobile phone handsets and devices.

Now there is no reason why you need to be tied to your PC, you can track your fleet from just about any-where.

In these challenging times owners of Irish fleets need to be sure that they have the best possible fleet managment tools in order to maximise their efficiency and keep a lid on costs.

You see even if your drivers are pretty much honest our experience with over 400 fleet customers is that over time, if left unchecked, even your most loyal drivers will take certain liberties. Usually it is just the odd white lie like telling you they have set off when really they are at home having that extra cup of tea and then blaming “heavy traffic”.

Or perhaps some are taking bigger liberties like taking an extended lunch break and using your company vehicle to go off and do nixers;

Or overseas lorry drivers running the engines on their trucks all night just to keep cosy;

These are just some of the things our customers have been able to stamp out since installing our fleet management system.

In the good times you could afford to turn a blind eye to this kind of behaviour, after all you considered yourself lucky to be able to even hire staff a few years ago.

Well now times have changed, belts have been tightened, and every cost needs to be accounted for. If you are not getting a full day’s work from your drivers or they are using your vehicles and diesel for personal mileage then you are flushing money down the drain.

Have a look at our comprehensive irish fleet management software.

Do you have drivers who can drive multiple vehicles in your fleet?

Do you find it hard to monitor driver Time and attendance?

Having drivers who drive different vehicles in your fleet can make your operation more flexible. However it can also throw up some potential problems. For example what happens when someone driving a vehicle commits an offence or damages a vehicle? Sometimes it can be difficult to identify who was driving at the time.

MIS Driver ID system allows you to know exactly which drivers were driving a vehicle and for what period of time they were driving the vehicle.

By installing an add on driver module to the existing tracking units the driver is prompted by a loud buzzer to identify him/herself with a key fob type tag. In addition the vehicle ignition can be disabled until the driver identifies himself.

This allows for the generation of management reports that will determine exactly who was driving which vehicle at any particular point in time.

The driver reports display the accumulative mileage and time driven by a driver across a base of vehicles.

Time and attendance is now not dependant on a driver being allocated to single vehicle.

Our clients are getting much better productivity from their staff. They can determine that a driver has arrived or left an area or a particular job, and do not have to rely on the staff member themselves to report that they have completed their job.

This means that you can put the staff member on to the next job as soon as possible.

Before using our system engineers, or drivers, would finish a job, not report the fact that they’ve finished , drive half way home only to find out there was another job close by where they left.

4 Reasons why you should choose Mobil-i vehicle tracking

1. With the group’s in house development and technical support, unlike many of our competitors, we don’t rely on outside contractors.

So the person who installed your service will be on hand to support it going forward.

As testament to this clients that we had when we started are still with us 7 years on without any contractual obligation for them to do so.

2. Because we develop our systems in house we can customize any reports that you may require.

We can also do custom development to allow you to interface our services into other systems – it is not just an out of the box solution.

This gives you peace of mind that the solution you choose today will be flexible enough to adjust with any future changes in your business.

3. Mobil-I offers flexible financing options and we never lock clients in to a contract meaning you only pay for the vehicles that you are currently utilizing in your fleet.

4. You are not restricted to how you view your data.

Whether you are a small business user more comfortable seeing your data on the web, or a power user who wants the full features and speed of a desktop application, or are on the move and want the convenience of being able to use your mobile we offer all 3 options as standard for no extra cost.

By implementing Mobil-i vehicle tracking our clients are able to ensure their drivers drive the most efficient routes and do not use company vehicles for non business mileage.

Also large savings can be made just through eliminating excessive idling. Statistics indicate that a large stationary articulated vehicle can burn as much as 14 litres of diesel in an hour. You may be surprised to hear of trucks that have as much as 200 hours of idling in the matter of a month. Our Engine on and off monitoring can help you cut wasteful idling time.
