Navigation & Messaging

Are you spending to much money on calls to your drivers?
Or do your drivers waste a lot of time trying to find your customers sites? You might not be aware that MS Track can interface with selected Garmin Personal Navigation devices. One of our clients that is getting good use from the Integrated messaging system is Glen Morgan from Morgan International Transport. |
Indeed the implementation of the Garmin integrated messaging has already paid dividends that more than cover the cost of moving to Mobil-i.
In the past, Glen would have had to rely on text messages and voice calls in order to communicate with his drivers and, at around 35 cent per text and 70 cent per minute for a voice call this quickly added up over the month for 8 mobile phones. The company regularly faced mobile phone bills of €65 up to €200 per month per driver.
Since the implementation of the Garmin integrated messaging, where Mobil-i MS Track can communicate directly to a standard Garmin in the truck cab, these mobile bills have been significantly reduced to between €25 and €40 per month. “This feature alone is saving me between €500 and €600 per month” states Glen.
Other benefits of the system is that dispatchers can push job location details to the Garmins in drivers cabs. Drivers can then use the satellite navigation functionality of the Garmin to give them the exact route details they need to get them to jobs as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Mobil-i can provide the Garmin units at trade prices and set them up with your existing MS Track solution.
An alternative solution to the Garmin integrated messaging is the Mobile Data Terminal (MDT). From within MS Track, the dispatcher can send a message direct to a data terminal in the cab of the driver. This has the benefit of saving the driver from having to write down details or grappling with text messages on his mobile.
In addition, the driver can then relay a message from the data terminal back to the dispatcher confirming his arrival on the job and departure from the job. This has two benefits, firstly keeping the dispatcher up to date, and secondly, all of the data in the messages is stored in the MS-Track database alongside the GPS location data.
This means that reports can be extracted from the system tying the start and stop times and messages with the location of the vehicles.
