Thief looking inside a car window ready to steal something

This recent article in the Irish Times highlighted the huge increase in construction crime over the last year since the upswing in the economy.

The article mentioned the following statistics

“Statistics from An Garda Síochána, yet to be officially signed off by the Central Statistics Office, show that construction crime has increased 35 per cent over the past year, from about 3,400 to 4,500 incidents, or roughly 13 a day. The value of tools and equipment stolen from building sites and tradespeople’s vehicles topped €7.7 million in the 12 months to October. Of that, equipment worth €3.6 million was taken from vehicles.”

With the ease of being able to sell things online nowadays with sites such as DoneDeal and Adverts it is relatively easy for thieves to steal equipment and then be able to quickly sell it on.

Mobil-i offer a variety of different tracking units that can work with vehicles and also plant and equipment. This can be all that stands between you and a thief when it comes to being able to trace exactly where stolen items are.

We have experience working with our customers and the Gardai to help recover stolen assets and vehicles in a timely fashion before they can be sold on or transported outside the state.
